AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco, an American professional soccer player, plays as a striker in the San Diego Wave FC (NWSL), which is the highest level of women's soccer in United States. She also co-captained the United States women's soccer team from 2018 until 2020 along with Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd. [8][9] Morgan was chosen as the top pick in the Western New York Flash's 2011 WPS Draft shortly after she was able to graduate early from University of California, Berkeley. Morgan played for the California Golden Bears. Morgan made her debut as a professional there , and was a key player in the team's winning the league title. Morgan, who was 22 at the time was the youngest athlete of the national squad at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, where the team was runner-up. Morgan scored the game-winning goal against Canada in the semi-final game at the 2012 London Olympics. She finished 2012 with 21 goals and 28 assists along with Mia Hamm as the only American woman who scored 20 goals and record 20 assists in the same calendar year , she became the sixth and youngest U.S. player to score 20 goals in a single season. Morgan was later awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete Of The Year and was also a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan played a key role in the United States winning their titles at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups and the FIFA Women's World Championships in 2019. Morgan was named to both the Dream Team for both tournaments. In 2019, she was awarded the Silver Boot.
